Love leaves its ghostly whisper
Within the room's darkened shadows.
Of sensuous desire, it speaks,
Of time so precious, of time lost,
Of treasures that were so dear,
Of moments ended in emptiness.
Beside the fireplace, one once loved speaks
Of pain and torture into the emptiness,
Despairing over the love lost.
And from within the moving shadows,
Answers another in a silent whisper
As they long for ones so dear.
More voices join in to cry over the lost.
Truth of what really happened the one speaks,
Of moments when light dispelled the shadows,
When love was more than just a whisper,
And lover's moments were dear,
The words echoing into the emptiness.
As midnight succumbs to the shadows,
More come to fill the emptiness,
The forgotten, but not the lost.
Together they echo what the one speaks,
Not too loud, barely more than a whisper,
Joined by others that are still so dear.
Long ago this lover's retreat was not lost,
But full of lovers, loved and dear.
Some cry as the one speaks,
And he lowers his voice to a whisper,
Remembering when there was no emptiness,
No sorrow within the shadows.
Before the avalanche buried them in shadows,
Before they died with the ones they held dear,
Through audible tears, the one speaks,
Still keeping his voice to a whisper,
Telling how the emptiness
Is full of the ones lost.
Until dawn the once loved huddle in the shadows,
Grieving for their lives lost,
Telling their stories in a whisper.
